HUAWEI Delivers with Their Smartwatches for Ladies
Published: | Updated:
The HUAWEI Watch offers a fantastic display, snappy performance and build quality that rivals the Apple Watch. It’s one of the best Android Wear smartwatches on the market right now – it’s a proper rival to the likes of the Moto 360 and LG Urbane.
However, it’s not a very feminine wearable, and for HUAWEI to really crack the market they have to appeal to everyone. So it comes as welcome news that the Chinese company will launch two new versions of the HUAWEI Watch later this year, the Jewel and Elegant. The HUAWEI Watch Elegant features a Clous De Paris pattern on the bezel and a gold case on a pearl white leather strap, while the HUAWEI Watch Jewel has a Swarovski Zirconia-embedded bezel and a gold case on a sapphire blue leather strap.
HUAWEI Watch Elegant and Jewel Technology
The Jewel and Elegant are actually the same features and technology-wise as the regular HUAWEI Watch, however they are larger than the regular watch with a 44mm diameter and 12.45mm thickness, versus the regular Watch’s 42mm and 11.3mm. We can’t help but think HUAWEI missed a trick here, given most ladies prefer a smaller watch on their wrists.
But whatever the case, they certainly pack in plenty of technology.
They feature a 1.4-inch round AMOLED display with a 400 x 400 resolution and the display is protected by sapphire crystal, rather than the Corning Gorilla Glass found on most other smartwatches. Sapphire crystal is a synthetically produced glass second only to diamond in hardness, so it’s a better option than mineral crystal or Gorilla Glass.
Inside their gold cases, there’s a 300mAh battery rated at two day’s usage and a 6-axis motion sensor, vibration motor and heart rate sensor. So the Elegant and Jewel smartwatches will track your steps and calorie intake like your regular fitness tracker, and automatically recognize when you are walking or running.
The watches sync to your smartphone via Bluetooth to provide you with active alerts however they also have Wi-Fi as a back-up should you move out of range of your phone; to preserve battery life, you can switch the watch’s active notifications off. As mentioned previously, the HUAWEI Watch runs Android Wear and the Jewel and Elegant versions are no different. For the new versions, HUAWEI has designed over 12 new watch faces and a slightly tweaked UI to appear more feminine. The watches are compatible with Android devices running 4.3 and higher and iOS devices running 8.2 or higher.
